The plan!

So, just had a chat with Steve. Aside from learning more about university management and business practices in general – I decided that working in such a department was a great opportunity to put theory into practice and actually endeavour to change something for the better in the university. As an initial brain fart we thought that it would be beneficial for me to work with my current responsibilities as the Senior University Ambassador  responsible for organising tours to prospective students and visitors, and put Lean into practice. More to come on that front soon…

Off we go…

So I’ve just started my second day in the Lean team office at the University of St Andrews. Yesterday Mark gave me a fantastic whistlestop tour through the history of Lean thinking in addition to some of the practicalities involved.

I’ve been doing bits and bobs for the university over my last three years as a student here – but I’m really looking forward to working with the Lean team in helping university management on their journey for continuous improvement.

Steve has arrived back in the office today, after enjoying the frivolities of the Diamond Jubilee weekend, and so now we’re all set and ready to go!
